News Roundup!

Okay, been a bit remiss of late in tackling some interesting stories.  So, without further ado, to the news, Last Bloggers!

Forest Whitaker (The Last King of Scotland) and Anthony Mackie (The Hurt Locker) are on board for Vipaka, a Voodoo-oriented horror film directed by Philippe Caland, who previously directed Whitaker in Ripple EffectVipaka should be on your radar for no other reason than Forest Whitaker always has the potential to knock a performance out of the park.  I mean, did you see Ghost Dog?  How badass was that?  Moving on...
Alexandre Aja of Piranha 3-D and High Tension fame is in talks to direct the remake of Pet Sematary, the seminal Stephen King novel about a terrifying Indian burial ground.  Aja is no stranger to remakes, having helmed the remake of The Hills Have Eyes, as well as the killer fish movie, and, one could argue, the Dean Koontz adaptation Intensity.  Did you see Intensity?  Go on, watch the first hour, then come back...  I know, right?  Almost identical to High Tension!  Coincidence, I'm sure.  Still, Pet Sematary deserves a good adaptation, but maybe a more delicate touch than Aja's 'the gore the merrier' attitude is required.
Eli Roth fans, you are in for a treat.  If you plan on visiting California's Universal Studios, that is.  He's designing a maze based on his Hostel films, the first one of which is fantastic.  To quote the Bear Jew himself, "...this is not for kids, nor for the weak of stomach."  I'm down, Eli.

Hostel maze? That sounds fun. I wasn't a fan of the Cabin Fever (as you know) but I was down with Hostel. I say we take a road trip. :D
